The TFSA Contribution limit for 2019 is $6,000. Your personal limit can be more than $6,000 depending on how much you have contributed in the past. If you were 18 years old and a permanent resident or a citizen of Canada in 2009 and have never contributed a dime into your TFSA then your total contribution limit should be $63,500.
In some provinces, the age of majority is 19 so you will not be able to open an account until the age you turn 19 but you will still accumulate the contribution room as soon as you turn 18 in all Canadian provinces. To give you an idea of the contribution limits for previous years I have made a table below which summarizes the contribution for each and every year since it started in 2009.

For checking with CRA without registering for CRA My Account, you can give them a call at Tax Information Phone Service (TIPS) at 1-800-267-6999.
